You are correct. Now, what do you want to know?

Rich

Rich, because my train is being built part by part, all the wiring is not connected. because of this, I don't know which wire connects where on that part. Also, sorry for the double post

this be the part: http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_68_154&products_id=851

to it you connect the wires for the motor, light, and pickups from the drive wheels. its marked where the light is connected, but not very well on the rest. anyone know or have a good reference image? If you remove the loco shell, it would be right under the cab

The new standard 2-6-0 has a one piece plug that has 8 wires connecting the tender to the locomotive. The new 2-6-0 does have a pc board in the locomotive under the cab.

I have another standard Bachmann locomotive the 2-8-4 and there are a two and four wire plugs that connect between the tender and the engine. There is also a small pc board in the engine as well.

This is the same type of connection as the Steam Spectrums have.

I am seeing a lot of difference in the DCC locos from Bachmann lately. Usually the diagrams do not show the connectors but some users do show a photo or two.

alright I'll be a little more specific about the chip. take off the loco shell, it would be located right below the cab. Heres an idea of what it looks like:

I did see the one in the standard line later.

I am suspecting the motor filter is in the loco. Inductors, capacitors and maybe, LED resistor.

I have seen a couple photos in the Bachmann forums. of the new EM-1 and I think the new 2-6-0. They both have the EU required filter in the loco. I am wondering if Bachmann is making it more difficult to remove the caps. Some hobby shops in the UK tell people to leave the caps in place. The parts are there for a good reason they say.

I did quite a lot of searching on the issue.

Bachmann sells a lot of DCC train stuff on the other side of the Pond that us USA people never see. Locos and rolling stock for over There.

There should be two connectors between the loco and tender. A two pin and a four pin. A PC board would be in the tender with an eight pin connector for the decoder to plug into. There may be a shrink wrapped decoder plugged in or a DC adapter to allow running on a DC power pack layout.

I am guessing that this is the loco.

Wrong engine.

This is the GS in the Standard line. There is a small pc board below the cab on this model. This model comes with DCC installed. There is also the standard PC board in the tender to which the DCC decoder is intalled. Unfortunately the wiring diagram is not shown.

Please define what you mean by  "Chip".

I am not aware of any "chip" at the location specified. The proper terminology would be more helpful. Some on the other side of the Pond use the word Chip to describe a decoder in a DCC loco.

A photo would be better.

My girlfriend, wonderful gal she is, has been buying me the Bachmann(don't blame her, its a coast thing) GS4 4449 Daylight part by part. I've been enjoying it but I've run into a problem. There is a small PCB chip right below the cab which connects to the tender. This chip also connects the wires in the locomotive itself together. Where to connect the wires for the light is obvious, I don't know about the rest. can anyone help me?
