Posted by SAL1911 on Friday, March 2, 2012 7:41 AM

Hello All. I have been looking to upgrade my Athearn Genesis MP15AC to a decoder with sound. I was thinking of going with a tsunami decoder. Does anybody know what the best Tsunami Sound Decoder that can fit in a Athearn Genesis MP15AC? Thanks!

The SoundTraxx web  site said that you can use a TSU-1000 decoder #827109.

There are factory equiped units with DCC sound already installed too.

Not sure if the factory sound equiped units are using a TSU-1000 decoder?

Soundtraxx has decoders designed specifically for Athearn. Although none of them have the sounds of the loco you are planning to upgrade, here's the link:

TSU-AT1000 #828048 may also work.
