Which makes the train stop, and the DCC command station blink and buzz reprovingly (*) at you until you fix the short by lining the switch to the correct track :-) (*) how a short is signaled may vary between different command stations.

super, thanks for all your input and help!
I agree with MrBeasley. Unless the springs have been removed from the Pecos they will not switch over and the train will derail. That is unless as a prior poster noted they are electrofrog and then the locomotive will short circuit before it gets to the frog.
Are you asking for a prediction? I'd guess it would derail. The Peco turnout has a spring which holds the points very solidly against the stock rail, so the train wheels will not be able to force them over, and the train will likely leave the tracks. It's unlikely that it would return by itself, so this will be pretty obvious.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Hello,
I'm modeling N scale with Peco code 55, medium and large turnouts. If I don't set the turnout the right way but approach trailing (from behind the frog), is the train just running over the turnout (the typical click-click...click-click sounds from my Märklin HO), or is the DCC shortened, or is the train derailing, or....?
