Installing Ditch lights on amtrak F40
Posted by LakeErieExpress on Thursday, February 16, 2012 11:59 AM

I've seen folks who have done this on youtube but I guess I am wondering how to do it. I know I'll probably drill the who and try to fill it in with some styrene behind the light. I am installing a digitrax decoder as we speak but dont know if i need a seperate decoeer to work the ditch lights and make them flash as is protypical. If any of you have installed this, how did you do it?

Is that compatible with a digitrax system? Im pretty new at DCC so my apologies if this is a dumb question.

Yes.  All decoders, regardless of brand can be operated on any DCC system.   (There is probably an exception somewhere, but in general this holds true)

If you purchase a Tsunami sound decoder and you can't get to it program you need to purchase the Power Pax available at Tony's Trains. It will also work great on the stubborn BLI's with sound installed. Tsunami is by far the best sound decoder!
