I prefer just hardwiring the whole thing and adding resistors as needed. That way I know what is going on and it usually takes less room.
1K 1/4 watt resistors are about the size of a grain of rice. There should be room for them with shrink wrap on them for each of the yellow and white wire. The blue is the positive for both lights. Maybe a smaller decoder like an N scale size would fit better. I like to use either a TCS MC2 or M1 in tight locations with little room.

Upon closer inspection, there are only 3 wires (the blue function positive common was split off and only looked like 2). I am still not sure where (and how) to insert these resistors. There is not a lot of room in that tender and shrink wrap on both ends of 3 resistors along with the decoder and harness will make that area as roomy as a full sardine can. Would the liquid tar tape stuff be an acceptable insulation replacement for shrink wrap in such an application?

After three years of broken gears in my old 2-truck Spectrum Climax (HO) I finally succumbed to Bachmann's offer to replace my old Climax with their new 3-truck version. As soon as I received the new loco I decided I wanted to make it a 2-truck Climax. In the third truck tender there is a #44915 motor/lights decoder and a big circuit board. The decoder easily fits in the second truck tender but not that big circuit board. No problem, I figured I'd just hard wire the decoder leads to the tiny circuit board in the second tender and therein lies my quandary. There are 3 resistors on the soon to be discarded large circuit board and 4 light leads... and I don't know where to attach those resistors after the large circuit is out of the way. Can any of you folks who know this stuff tell me how to proceed? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
