Well it is nice to see a "solution".
I had a defective 750 decoder from Litchfield and Bruce verified with SoundTraxx. The only cost to me was the cost of sending it back to SoundTraxx. Tony's should cover this.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Rich,
I have a decoder tester from Lichfield Station and it allows testing with the 8 pin or wires that hook up to clips. I usually use the testor before installs, but this time I did not. I removed the decoder and put it on the tester, the decoder is doing the same thing as it did in the locomotive. Looks like I need to send it to SoundTraxx. This is a new decoder that I purchased from Tony's Trains about a week ago.

Hi Jeff
I would have suggested a decoder tester but very few have one of those. I built my own tester. It is just a pain to solder the leads to a 8 pin NMRA plug because I made my tester with the 8 pin NMRA receptacle. I test my decoders before installing.
I have tried the reset a few times, I am going to take the decoder out and put it on the tester to see if it does it there. That will at least let me know if it is the decoder or something with the locomotive.
Right now, don't know. I have the same loco with a 750 and I know what the wiring is like. I have had my 4-6-0 loco apart. If there was a short you would probably have a smoked decoder. Right now I suspect a decoder issue. I use a NCE Power Cab and have never un into this issue. I would go through the wiring again and make sure all wires are insulated from one another. Did you try the reset more than once?
Hello,
Last night I installed a Tsunami 750 in a Spectrum, 4-6-0. I removed the original board and hard wired the Tsunami directly to the locomotive. Everything works, but the headlight stays on all the time. I have only the white and blue wires connected and a 1000 ohm resister. It does not matter if I go forward or reverse, and the yellow wire is not connected. I can not turn off the headlight with the headlight function.
I tried doing a reset of CV 8 = 8 and that did not help. Is there something that I am missing or do I have a faulty decoder?
Thank you,
