Came across an auction on Ebay for an NCE PH Pro Power-Pro Pro-Cab 5 Amp DCC System.Reportedly brand new in box with a current auction price of 107 dollars. This appears to be the same item which has an MSRP of 529.95.Just wondering if anyone has an idea of how this person can be selling this for such a low price or is it something to stay away from.

How many days are left? I have seen many start like that with 6-7 days to go, and by the time they end they have gone above MSRP.
Could be a scam...check the feedback.
Could be a reserve on the auction...ie: it won't sell unless the price goes high enough to satisfy the reserve price the seller chose.
Could be that the auction has several bidders watching and in the final seconds you would be surprised how fast the price can climb.
2 days - no reserve - I'll be curious to see where this ends up.
Jim's Trains is a good dealer. If you are looking for a DCC system, the Power Pro is a good one. I have one. If you are thinking about this system, I would decide how much I would pay for one, and then put in that bid. If you get it, you get it. If it goes higher than you want to pay, you don't get it, and nothing is lost.

The above is my opinion, from an active and experienced Model Railroader in N scale and HO since 1961.
(Modeling Freelance, Eastern US, HO scale, in 1962, with NCE DCC for locomotive control and a stand alone LocoNet for block detection and signals.) http://waynes-trains.com/ at home, and N scale at the Club.
I'm not ready to purchase a system right now - wish I was because when the time comes I plan to go with NCE. I have saved Jim's Trains on my Ebay site so hopefully he will have other deals like this one in the future. Thanks for your input.
There's likely to be a flurry of activity in the last 5 minutes of bidding that takes the final price above MSRP.
If you're really interested in it, you could submit a "highest bid" now and hope for the best.
If you got the $$$ for it, jump on it.

Don't forget, you will also need a 5 amp power supply. Another $45.00. Read the details. We shall see soon what the final cost is.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
It's up to $112.50. Still a fantastic deal. Had a look at the seller's ebay store. Lots of items at about market prices. Most of them have a "Buy it now" price. Maybe he just screwed up placing this auction. Sometimes it's better to let them run the course than retract the auction. Especially if there is already a bid when the mistake is noticed. It will be interesting to see its final selling price.
I found two on Ebay. One ends today and is currently going for $237.50 and it is the radio version. Also new never used.
The other is the Powerhouse Pro not a radio version, new in the box and is currently going for $112.50. It has 1 day and 10 hours left.
Just for the fun of it I'm watching them to see what the end bid goes for.
If at the last second they still look good I may throw a bid in. LOL!

Here is a screenshot of three NCE systems. They are "Completed Auctions". No more bidding.
One of those got a great deal - the middle one. PH-Pro Radio is about $546 from Tony's and others. The others, a couple bucks less than most palces, but probably paid more in shipping that someone like Tony or Litchfield charges.
edit: just noticed the bottom one was a Radio set too, so that bidder also got a great deal.

Finished at 310.03 - still a pretty good deal for the buyer.
Jims Trains is pretty reputable. He runs that auction every once in a while. I've seen it sell for as little as $260! I was scratching my head the first time I saw it too. (most bidding takes place in the last minute)

The Radio version ended Saturday night at a final bid of $423.74. I paid well over $500. for the radio version in 2006. The bidder in this auction did pretty good also.
Alot of stuff is going for very low prices on ebay in the last month. Probably due to the economy. Whatever the reason, now is the time to buy.
I have alot of stuff that I was planning on selling before christmas but now I think I am going to wait.
