P2K Decoder Board Removal?
Posted by Hansel on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 7:40 PM

Hi,

I have a P2K gp9 and I have an MRC DC sound decoder and speaker (yes DC).  The MRC module plugs into the 8 pin plug that I unattatched from the existing P2K board.  Do I still need the existing P2K board?  Or can I remove it?

Thanks, Hansel

Your question is confusing.  What P2K board are you asking about?  If you mean the dummy plug that you removed so you could plug in the MRC decoder, no, you do not need it as long as the MRC decoder is plugged in.  MRC decoders are known to be extremely unreliable and you may eventually need to remove it.  In that case, you will need to replace the dummy plug in order for the locomotive to run again without the MRC decoder.
