DCC Sound in a DC Loco
Posted by AltoonaRailroader on Monday, September 22, 2008 2:16 PM

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been posted numerous times before but I couldn't find anything helpful on the searches.

The sound bug is starting to bite me and I was wondering what my options were for DCC sound on a DC powered loco? And if I'm going to go for DCC sound, shouldn't I just go ahead and make the DCC plunge,  but I really don't want to do that? My wife just landed a new job so I'm hoping my hobby allowance will go up some. But please, I'm really just looking for sound for my loco without having to use one of those external hide-a-speaker systems I've seen on Ebay.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks a 70-tonner.

Even without sound, I'd still be a big fan of DCC over DC.  It allows you to do so much more, because you can independently control your locomotives.  As they say, you run the trains, not the track.  Sound is just icing on the cake.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
