That did the trick! I wasn't loading the sound file; was trying to preview sound immediately after opening the file.  Thanks for your help, Lothar.  Looks like I'll be spending a few bucks on upgrade chips and the new Revolution decoders.

Unzip the sound file to your desk top. I used WinRar as an unzip program. It automatically gave the file a name 100-ov7-26-1s. Open the Quantum application and click "load Q1a file". Click browse button and find the unzipped file on your desk top. Double click to load the file to the Quantum program and you should be good to go. (the "Preview Sounds" will be active after that. Click on Startup) Works pretty good.Thumbs Up [tup]

You basically need to unzip the sound file and load it into the Quantum program. It doesn't do it automatically by just double clicking the sound file you downloaded.

Hope that helps!Smile [:)]

Did you follow these instructions?

Thanks, Lothar.  Yes, I believe I did.  I downloaded a sound file, which opens with Q2Upgrade and goes to the Quantum Firmware Upgrade Application.  Among the options is "Preview Sounds."  When I click on this, the next page has the Start Up button, but everything on this page is grayed out and will not work.  That is what prompted me to ask if I needed the QSI Programmer to listen to these sounds.

Suggestions?

Question on Quantum sound files
Posted by ShawneeHawk on Sunday, August 17, 2008 11:25 AM
Hi, I am interested in hearing the Quantum sound files for the new Revolution decoder, as well as the chip upgrades for my earlier BLI/P2K locos.  I have downloaded the Q1 and Q2 software, but am unable to listen to the sounds.  I run on Windows Vista. Do I need the Quantum Programmer to be able to listen to these files?  Thanks in advance.
