Looking at the sale items in this month's Walthers sale catalog, I see the Digitrax Sound bug advertised for 25 bucks while the MRC units are all over $60 bucks.
Why the fire sale on Digitrax?

The Soundbug itself is still at the regular price of $50. Read carefully. The lower-priced decoders have Soundbug sockets on them. They are motor-only units that will accept the soundbug plug-in, but don't have sound themselves.
Dang. I got excited for a while.

What Mr. B said...
They've got some Soundtraxx DSD's on Ebay for under $60.http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R4&satitle=soundtraxx&sacat=220%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2Scroll down to the store listings at the bottom.
You have to realize, though, that the cheaper SoundTraxx decoders are very old style and some of them had poor motor control circuitry, so it's a case of, 'You get what you pay for.' The DSX decoder is sound only and you need an additional decoder for motor/lights.
Tsunami is the new and improved SoundTraxx decoder, and anything less is not worth the cost differential.
