David:

Followed your instructions, it works!!!  Very cool MARS light, looks much better than the old incandescent that I've replaced.  Now I can go ahead and do two more the same way.

I saw that you mention tutorials that you've produced;  where would I find these?

Thanks again,

john

MARS light wiring

I've added a decoder to a non-sound P2K E6.  I started by removing the factory installed light board.  My LHS recommended a TCS T1P-MH decoder.  I was told this one would be the best to use with LED's.  The decoder has been installed, the engine runs fine and the headlight works as it should.  I've used Miniatronics 3mm LED's and their 470r resistors for each LED.  Staff at the LHS advised that I use the green wire for the MARS light (and white was used for the head light).  I am running this with the Digitrax Empire Builder.  I programmed CV51 to 2 for the MARS light to go on going forward and expected that F1 would turn the MARS on/off.

But....the MARS light does not come on.  The TCS instructions do seem to say to use the yellow wire for the MARS function.   I hope someone can offer a suggestion.  If not, I'll call the LHS tomorrow.
