Problem with my Zephyr
Posted by aet on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 8:30 AM

Hello,

when I went to run an engine this morning I noticed that it keeps running even
when I flick the lever to brake on my zephyr. The brake light doesn't blink
either. It worked fine yesterday. I can stop the engine only by turning down the throttle.

Can anybody help me out

Thanks

Art

Art, I think you will find that the switch controlled by the knob has broken.  Very likely that you will need to call Digitrax and have it sent in for repair.  They are generally very good at turning these things around within a couple of weeks.

If you swing it all the way around to reverse, does the engine reverse direction, or does it keep going forward??

Hi. I have had the same problem. It behaves like it has a mind of its own. I turn power off and unplug. Sometimes I have to do this a couple of times but it always works

It sounds like you have somehow accidentally turned the braking feature off.

From page 15 of the Zephyr manual:

To change the brake rate:
1. Press the PROG key. The display shows the last programming mode used.
2. Press the MU key. The display shows id00.
3. Press the MU key again. The display shows SPXX where XX is the current
speed limit set for this DCS50.
4. Press the MU key again. The display shows brXX where XX is the current
brake rate set for this DCS50.
Use the keypad to enter the
new brake rate for the
DCS50. Setting brake rate at 00 turns the brake feature off. A setting of 01
gives a fast braking (deceleration rate) and startup (acceleration rate) effect
and a setting of 15 gives the slow braking (deceleration rate) and startup
(acceleration rate) effect when the brake is used.
5. Press the EXIT key to set the new braking rate and return to normal operation
