Posted by rustycoupler on Sunday, July 6, 2008 11:28 AM
i just put in a dz 123 in my bachmann 4-4-0 n scale and a led headlight it ran good , then i puchased a mrc sounder and everything programmed well ,until i changed some of the cv s ,by me changing some of the cvs ,did i change the light output on the digitrax decoder ,when i put the engine in reverse the headlight should go out but it just blinks, like its picking up a pulse. i checked all the wiring for a short but found nothing.

I don't have any experience with Digitrax decoders but I have been using MRC sounders with NCE and TCS decoders for motor and light control. I have found there to be a few conflicting CV's. One of the CV's that control light functions on TCS also is used for one of the sounds on the Sounder.   I would check all of the CV's on your Digitrax and look for a CV that is also used by the Sounder.

When you reset the decoder you set the address back to 3.

Also,

Some of the sounders (1662, and 1666) have an undocumented CV49 which if set to 0 (zero) or an even number turns off all sounds,  set it to 1 or other odd number to turn on the sound. A  decoder reset does not change CV49's setting.
