I'm about to start work on my first model railroad since I was about 10 years old and I wish to go with the DCC route this time around. After looking at the pros and cons of the cheaper systems out there the MRC Prodigy is the route I've decided to go. My question is, what would I notice different with a Prodigy Advanced 2 vs. an original Prodigy Advanced? I'm looking at building a standard (I know, that's just a clever way of saying unoriginal) 4x8 n scale layout with 2 mains and a couple of small yards and spurs. At this point, I'm not too concerned about having more than one operator but I may down the road wish to have two (both of the Prodigy Advanced models are capable of this are they not?). I would say that I would be running an absolute maximum of 10 locos at a time (assuming 4 consists) and I may wire in some motors for the switches (haven't decided if I'm going to be a tight wad and go for hand thrown or splurge on some motors yet). I'll probably equip some locos with sound, I'm going to buy one sound decoder, see what it sounds like and decide from there, many seem to say that n scale decoders sound like junk so I'm not going to equip a fleet with them if it's not worth it. Long story short, what would someone like me who is far from a pro notice different between the Advanced and the Advanced 2. Also, would I need a power booster for this set up?
Thanks
