You press F8 x4 in rapid sucession to enter audio assist.   "To enter , stop your locomotive on an operational track and press function button 8 in rapid succession 4 times. The decoder will start talking to you giving you a menu similar to a telephone answering machine. Just follow the verbal instructions to adjust or remap many of the sound options. When you have made a selection press 8 to save each selection and then press 0 to exit." They also have a chart to follow. A single press of F8 will mute the locomotive.  Double press swaps between light and sound mode, but it should not affect the sounds playing already. Did you start the prime mover?  I cant remember if you have to start up the locomotive with these decoders or not.  Guess its time to run trains.
