EZ Command Controller
Posted by CPO7 on Saturday, August 5, 2023 12:09 PM

My EZ Command station allows my loco to startup normally and all sounds work.  Loco will not move forward or back.  The Bach-Mann said to try restetting CV 8?  My understanding is that the EZ command does not allow me access to CV codes.

You are correct, CPO7.  You can only access CVs 0 (F0F/F0R) thru 8 (9?) with the EZ Command.  The buttons serve a dual-purpose of address and CVs.

I don't own one of these, but from what I can understand from the Bachmann Website, you can reset a decoder by setting CV8 to value 8. Note that some decoders use different CV codes for resetting purposes. Note that after a reset, your Loco's address will become 03. You can change it to another number (between 1 and 10), by changing CV1 to the number you wish to use.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

What do you recommend I do?  Reached out to Bachmann and they where no help on their forum, can't get anyone on the phone.

Hello All,

CPO7
My EZ Command station allows my loco to startup normally and all sounds work. Loco will not move forward or back.

Many sound-equipped locos will "startup" [sound(s)] when track power is applied.

The EZ Command system (excluding the EZ Command Plus Controller) only has 10 available addresses.

Address zero (10) is used to control a DC locomotive using Zero Bit Stretching (mimicking DC).

Did you assign an address to this loco using the EZ Command?

Have you tried to move the loco with other addresses?

CPO7
The Bach-Mann said to try restetting CV 8?

How did you get this advice- -Bachmann forums, email, spoke with a customer service rep?

I am also on the Bachmann Forums and searched for a post with no success.

Did you specify that you are using an EZ Command system?

Note that after a reset, your Loco's address will become 03.

You will need to reprogram the loco to a different address or just use address 03.

Answering these questions will help the great folks on these forums to resolve your issues.

Hope this helps.

See what it does on the decoders default setting of 003.  That is kind of a diagnostic setting.   Just select loco #003.    Most decoders do this odd thing of forgetting.  They respot d to commands but don't move.      Just doing an address reprogramming (like what you did the first time you programmed it when you bought that engine) fixes that problem.  It is a weird amnesia thing all decoders do occasionally.   No idea why, and it will do that again.  Just run it through the program track again.  No need to go through a lot of things the ez command might not be able to do.  If that doesn't work work, then a deeper look will have to be done.  But it should work.
