I have an Intermountain GP10 which I just got back from the Shop.
1. From the Beacon on top of the SHELL there are Two Male Wires ( One Grey the other Black)
2. From the engine there are Two Female ends (One Grey the other Red).
They were sent back to me unpluged.
Does it matter which Male plug goes to either of the famale plugs? Another words is there polarity
Seperate question
There are two long female wires coming from the engine which would go to the beacon in the front which is no longer there. In a seperate plaster bag with new couplers is Two Male wire connected together. My question is this.
Are these two male wire sent as an extra or are these to be used as a jumper for some reason?
Hal,
Are the beacon lights incandescents or LEDs? And, when you say "shop", someone installed the beacon lights for you?
If LEDs, I would guess that the gray wires are the (-) common and should be connected together...

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
Shop means Intermountian itself. The engine was in for repairs. I am not sure which the beacon is.

Harold,
While someone may know the answer here, I would try contacting IM and asking them directly. Given the holiday weekend though, you may not get a response till the latter part of next week.
That said, I wouldn't think trying to plug the beacon in would harm it. If it's an LED, it will only light with the connections in one orientation. If incandescent, it would light plugged in either way.
Is your locomotive DC or DCC?
I would think a beacon, would be rotating and hence an LED.

I have been E-Mailing and speaking to IM since last friday. They keep saying they will get back to me. They have not. That is why I put this post. I am also assuming it is an LED and I am planning to put it together tomorrow if I haven't got a good answer
Let us know what you find out, Harold...
