Anew engine. Cv specs say CV2 for start voltage defaults to 10. Engine doesn't move until 20+ steps. Tried to program CV to lower but no effect on startup. this is a new Model Power n scale Mogul.
That is a sweet little engine...
So you are saying that start-up is "slow", and you reduced the value of CV2? Unless I am missing something, I believe you should do the contrary, and set CV2 at a higher number (20?).
Simon
Correct. You want to increase the value of CV2 until your 2-6-0 just begins moving at speed step 001. Try "20" then increase or decrease, as needed.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I'd also suggest - if you haven't already done so - to give the engine a good 'break in' run. 10-15 minutes running forward at about 3/4 full throttle, then 10-15 minutes in reverse. It loosens a new engine up and just doing that often improves the start-up.
If that (and boosting CV2 as noted above) doesn't work, maybe check CV5 (top speed) and CV6 (mid-speed) to make sure they didn't accidently get set to a very low number.
Thanks all. I'll try both breakin and setting to higher value.
I've changed CV2to 25 and now engine creeps at around 15 steps. I'm running trains at my local club Saturday so I'll do breakin then. My home layout doesn't currently have a continuous loop.
