ESU 58921 wiring

Need some ESU help on my 58921 wiring in the headlights.  I am using the SMT LED.  It is my understanding that I don't need to use a resistor.  I soldered a test LED with the positive side going to the 1.5 volt output and the negative side to the headlight pad.  It seemed to work ok.  I then wited the two headlight LED in parallel and they are not working.

 

I tried using my volt meter to read the pads and not get 1.5 volts out of either headlight or rear light and nothing is working.  I don't have access to a programmer yet.  Not sure if this matters.

 

Any ideas to try.

I just checked the current Loksound 5 manual and the Direct decoders come with 2.2K resistors already installed on the board.

Download the LokSound 5 manual here and go to pg. 23.  The common (anode) tab is right next to the F0F (front headlight) tab.  Is that what you connected to?  There are also three other commons on the board; two on the bottom and one on the opposite end for the F0R (rear headlight).  You can use any of those or just connect it to the + side of the LED.

It's the one on page 24.  There are two U+ and two that are 1.5 or 5.0 volts.  This is my confusion

For front headlights: Use the "Front light" tab (upper left) and either common (U+).  The two +1.5v/+5v tabs appear to be for 1.5V or 5.0V auxillary lighting.  You leave the "JPPWR" pads as is for 1.5V and short them for 5.0V.

I was thinking that two might have been used for auxiliary lighting but was not sure.

AUX 1-8 are to the left of those pads.  Maybe it's just additional lighting pads?  I would stick with the front lighting pad and the common (+) for your headlights.
