Removing filters from Atlas HH600 motor
Posted by trnj on Monday, May 3, 2021 1:51 PM

I am reworking my Atlas H.O. Alco HH600, remounting the Loksound 5.0 micro so that it fits under the hood better.  I noticed what seem to be two capacitors (?) that probably act as interference filters attached one each to motor leads.  Can these be safely removed?  I use only DCC and cable T.V. so there seems to be no purpose in keeping them and they do take up a bit of precious space.  The filter has "103M" printed on it.

Thanks for any help.  I am making a mounting for the decoder right now so that it will sit lower and not keep the hood from fitting.  It has a small, tightly fitting shell.  The engine with the Loksound runs and sounds great!  Don't miss the QSI it came with!

Thanks for the link.  That answers my question . . . And explains occasional odd behavior of engine previously.
