I have an Athearn locomotive with a Digitrax decoder installed
(not sure which model decoder)
ran the the loco last week on club layout with no issues, today put it on the track and for some reason the headlight is in MARS mode
I have tried everything that I can think of to turn that option off
I would just perform a factory reset then reprogram your 3- or 4-digit address again.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
Two questions.
Which type of decoder is it?
Is the club layout and your layout using the same DCC system?

The club system is Digitrax DCS 100
with Dt400 throttle
It's the only place I've run this locomotive, but for some reason between last week and this week just sitting in the box it changed

Check CV49. Value should be 0. Same with CV50. Joe
