I got a new rs-2 dcc locomotive. put it on the track and it ran fine. Afterwards, i realized it was running the wrong direction. i PHYICALLY TURNED THE LOCOMOTIVE AROUND, and it hestates all over the place. mostly by scwitches, but it might be also where termals are. i haven't isolated that part yet. runs fine when phyically switched back. all other locmotives run just fine. I know to switch directions on the dcc cvv's but phyically swapped directions and i get irratic runs. Any suggestions?

In DCC, if the short hood was running in the forward direction and you turn it 180 degrees, it will still run short hood forward unless you change the direction button.
Are you running DCC on a DC layout? If so what throttle are you using? Rapido warns against using the MRC 1300.
The other thing I would suggest is to clean the wheels with a Qtip and alcohol. We had a recent thread where that helped running problems with a new loco.

to the Model Railroader forums. I am glad you are here.
What do you mean by it runs the wrong direction? I believe real RS-2s could be set up to run with either the long or short hood as the front of the locomotive, so forward might not be obvious. There should be a small "F" on the model somewhere to indicate which end is the front.
Does it simply run the opposite direction of the switch on the power pack?
What controller are you using?

What brand and what scale? I agree it may need breaking in.
