Adjusting sounds on my atlas engines
Posted by the old train man on Sunday, November 8, 2020 11:05 AM

I just received my master line 840cw and gold plus genset II. In the instructions it does not tell me how to change horns or adjust other cvs. Went online to atlas site and they could not give me the info I need. Could it be that these models dont have these features? they both have esu sound.

 Interesting they didn't come with a reference sheet. My new RS-3 did. Even if it was wrong -0 the sheet was for a Loksound v4 decoder and the latest run has the v5, so the CV to change the horn is different. Is the Dash 8-40CW a new release? If so it probably also has a v5 decoder.

 Dunno about the Genset since it's a Trainman series, though it seems to indicate they use a full Loksound decoder and not the Essentials.

  The horn selection CV on Loksound v5 is CV163. Atlas uses generic sound projects, not custom ones, so this should be the horn options:

3rd Gen Horn Pack 1
Horns (SoundCV9):
CV163=0 Leslie S-3L-R
CV163=1 Leslie S-5T-RRO-R
CV163=2 Nathan K-2H
CV163=3 Nathan K-3H-L
CV163=4 Nathan K-3L
CV163=5 Nathan K-3LA
CV163=6 Nathan K-5HL
CV163=7 Nathan K-5H-R24
CV163=8 Nathan K-5L
CV163=9 Nathan K-5LA
CV163=10 Nathan K-5LA-R24
CV163=11 Nathan K-5L-LA
CV163=12 Nathan K-5L-R24
CV163=13 Nathan P-3
CV163=14 Nathan P-5-R24

Bell is CV164:

GE Modern Bell Template Pack 2
Bells (SoundCV10):
CV164=0 GE M 6731022A Steel Bell 031
CV164=1 GE M 6731022A Steel Bell 033
CV164=2 Graham-White E-Bell 001
CV164=3 Graham-White E-Bell 002
CV164=4 Graham-White E-Bell 008

I'm mainly looking at the ESU sound file definition for the GE 16-7FDL 16Y9 Late Exhaust, which is not the exact one, has the same settings as other similar generation projections, so some other CVs are menthioned there:

http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/18?page=9&count=10&order=date&type=diesel&country=us&cat=18

Genset IS a custom file for Atlas, it's here:

http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/19?page=2&count=10&order=date&type=all&cat=19

as NRE 3GS21B Genset II

 What are you trying to download? The file on the ESU page I linked is the sound project to load into a blank ESU decoder with the Lokprogrammer. You CAN download the Lokprogrammer software and the sound project and use that to see what CVs to change, but otherwise that file won't help unless you have another DC only Genset and want to put an ESU decoder in it.
