MRC DCC Handheld repair
Posted by Ani Bee on Thursday, April 16, 2020 5:22 PM

Hi All,

I have two MRC Advance Prodigy squared(2), that the screens are crapping out. MRC is asking for $100 for repairs for both. Does anyone have the part number or any idea how I can get them online and repair it? The screens are not wired to the board so I am hoping that the replacement, if available will be easy.

Thanks a ton - Ani

Welcome to the forum.  Your posts are moderated and when they appear, it seems to that they appear when they were originally posted, meaning they aren't "fresh"   Moderation goes away in short order.

Can't recall anyone posting with a similar problem but we do have some MRC fans, so my reply will bump you up to the top.  I don't know but suspect the screen is a generic screen sourced from China.

i don't kow about the screen, but i repaired the base controller unit a while ago, it was just generic components , and everything was labelled okay  .. it was just one of the final pass transistors, i -think- a TIP31 or something like that ??

What seems to be the problem?  I only have one Prodigy² and it’s getting up there in age (14 yrs) but looks and works as good as new.

Suggest going to the MRC-DCC forum with lots of help available. [Group.io URL removed by moderator]

I belong to a couple groups.io  The are very specific to certain DCC manufacturers.  They aren't competition to this forum.  They really get into the weeds, which serves a function, but is not as entertaining as this forum.
