I want to replace a different type of sound decoder in a Paragon 3 steam loco. Looking for the wire arrangement on the tender-locomotive connector. Would appreciate a diagram !
Hi, Hoosak
Does the locomotive in question have a smoke unit? BLI uses a different wire arrangement if it does. I believe the 2-8-2 and 4-6-2 Mikes and Pacifics don't have the smoke unit. All the wires in the tender are black so no help there.
I've replaced quite a few QSI, P2 and P3 decoders in BLI steam and have sketches of the pin-outs on the plug. all I have to do is remember where I put them
Some of the Paragon PC boards have screen-printed ID on the plugs.
I'll be back when I know which engine you have.
Good Luck, Ed
hi ed: Thanks for the reply. Yes all of the steam locos I am changing decoders on have smoke units. Mikados, consolidations and northerns. These are all paragon 3 steam locomotives. I have a diagram for the 7 Wire. That one has a 5th wire position for synchronizing chuff. But the smoke unit connectors add 2 more wires I think. Any help will be appreciated!
