BL2 Whistle and Bell Sound Files for Monon

I am getting ready to put Lok-Sound DCC in a proto BL2 for the Monon.  Does anyone know the correct bell and whistle files to use?  I don't have a programmer so I have to get it right the first time!

Hi,

I believe, as built, you would use the Leslie A-200 "Blat" horn:

I believe that horn is the default horn on early EMD Loksound Select decoders.

Loksound, IIRC doesn't have mush choice in bells, steel fast or slow or brass fast or slow.

My choice for a BL2 would be Steel bell, slow rate.

You Can make changes to the sound file options, including shoice of horn or bell rate, using any DCC programming protocol you just can't upload an entirely new sound project to the decoder without the Lok Programmer.

I checked with the historical society for my railroad to find out the horn I wanted.

 Fromt he protoype photo posted, it looks like an A-200 facing forward on the short hood. It could be another A-200 facing backwards behind the cab, but other roads used a slightly smaller A-125 there, so that's more likely what it is.

That bad news is, without a Lokprogrammer, you can't set up something that would play an A-200 in forward and an A-125 in reverse. It WOULD be possible to set that up in a V4.0 decoder using a Lokprogrammer. I think the A-200 alone will be fine. I can;t tell the difference looking at that photo, and I doubt a lot of others could either, so I'm going off of information posted about what the locos were equipped with, which may or may not be completely accurate (it IS the internet, you know). One of the guys who has a huge air horn collection and probably knows more about tham than most people unfortunately recently passed away. His we site had a lot of information on various types and variations of horns, and he had a huge rack mounted in his truck and used to give talks and demonstrations at (outdoor, of course) train shows and events. Ed Kaspriske was his name. Looks like his family is keeping the web site up for now at least.
