Posted by andychandler on Thursday, February 14, 2019 1:28 PM

Starting out in DCC, and notice Digitrax has a new version of the Zephyr.  Have been to website for description.  Anyone with personal experience.  Many thanks, Andy Chandler

There has been at least one review of the DCS52 on the Digitrax list on groups.io by a user who has one.

I found a couple videos from a retailer, DCCTrain.com, one by digitrax and a couple by ck7813.  I'm not familiar with ck, but he might be more objective than a retail store

Something interesting - it seems they don;t just have lights on the buttons, they are actually driven by the microcontroller (that's why the flicker when filmed with the guy's video camera). That menas, if they haven't already implemented this, they should be able to set it up so only the buttons that are applicable in a given situation are actually lit up.

BigDaddy
ck7813

He has a second video: there is a firmware upgrade that solves a problem with F-9 that he didn't tell us about in the first video.  His problems with JMRI, I think, was setting the proper COM port.

I replaced my DC51 with the new DCS52 a couple of days ago and there is no comparison. Much easier to use with screen prompts and it also has a built in computer interface so you will not need a PR4. I highly recommend it. BTW I was able to sell the old on eBay so the new DCS52 cost me about $25, this was a no brainer decision for me.
