I have an around the wall layout, so buss wires are black and white. Black to the back rail, white to the front rail.

I use these:

My main buss is parallel #16 wire. I have them twisted together to avoid crosstalk of the DCC signal.  They go to these shorting bars. The feeders go from the shorting bars to the track. I have feeders attached to the track ~every 6'. My RailPro equiped locomotives have a voltage feedback to the handheld controller. Running a five engine consist, the voltage drop anywhere on the layout is a few tenths of a volt.

The shorting bars are available on ebay.

How'd you know I used white and black?

I think most here are smart enough to figure out what to do if they don't have black and white wire Wink  So sure, feed them with a spoon.

I used a cable staple gun, the staples look like little croquet hoops, but there are also plastic cable clamps.

I do too, and after wiring my basement outlets to get it ready to be finished, I have lots of left over wire clips to fasten it down.

14 gage bus, 18 gage feeders for me,

That's what I do too; you can get common 15 gauge house wire which is fairly economical and use it for a bus.

The bigger the layout and longer the run, the heavier gauge wire may be needed.  While 16 may be adequate for smaller layouts, some go with 14 or even 12.
