How to wire two independent power supplies to a small switching layout?
Posted by IDRick on Sunday, October 7, 2018 10:30 PM

I am constructing a small switching layout and want to have a means of running either DC or Rail Pro command control.  I have six locomotives and will not be converting them all to Rail Pro immediately, thus I need both power sources.  Rail Pro sells a power supply that is a continous 14 V (going on memory, could be wrong on V).  The DC control is a basic DC power pack.  How do I wire this so I can operate on DC only or Rail pro only?

Hi,

DPDT (Double-Pole Double-Throw) Center-off type switch would give you the option of having the track power dead if needed or desired.

Good Luck, Ed
