Broadway Limited Consolidation Loco H0

Pls. share your thoughts regarding the following:

I have recently received the new BL Consolidation train in H0 (Para3). From the begining I have faced the difficulties with steam...Steam generator works but steam didnt want to come out...Only after I realised that i need to blow into the smoke stack it went out. For one day everything was fine...

Now the smoke do not come out from the smoke stack even if I blow... I see it inside...

I use MTH smoke fluid. can be the reason? what is the best for BL loco?

If I have overfilled the smoke generator how I can dry it?

Any ideas? Could it be deffective?

Welcome to the forum  Your initial posts are moderated.

I'm not a smoke guy but my guess is that overfilling is probably not a cause.  The online manual says do not let it run dry.

Letting the reservoir run dry may lead to a burned out heater.  There is a switch under the cab to turn the heater off/on.  I keep mine off as the residue from the smoke gets over everything.

Unfortunately the fans can often fail resulting in the smoke staying in the boiler. You have to send it back for repair. Hurry up cause I have two shipping out and wait time can be 6 months!!

Hi, I am new here, well sort of I have been reading for years and this is my first time responding to a post. I have a BLI 2-8-0. I have had experienced all kinds of issues with it smoke related and other….the following is what I try when the smoke stops. There is a switch on the bottom for off and on. If you are using DCC press, F7 this controls the smoke unit. If you have the owner’s manual that came with the locomotive look at the CV list and you will find the smoke control CV you can set the volume of smoke at idle and while moving. On my 2-8-0 I can hear the fan if it is on. You blow the from the side of the locomotive, on mine this makes the smoke come out of the stack also for filling the fluid don’t place the funnel into the stack if the unit has been on, it will be hot and might melt the plastic on the funnel and more than likely destroy your smoke unit. You can also call BLI
