Walthers Mainline ES44 DCC/ Sound Locomotive programming
Posted by willy6 on Friday, March 9, 2018 3:49 PM

I just got a Walthers Mainline ES44 w/dcc/sound. I tried programming using JMRI. I had the loco read on the programming track and it showed numerous possible options. Not one was was related to the Walthers loco I had. I tried some of the Tsunami choices to no avail. I ended up using the Bachmann ES44 option and that worked except for the it dosen't work the ditch lights. I wonder what decoder they are using in these locomotives.

Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

It would appear to be a version of the Sound Value decoders similar to the bachmann but with slightly different features. Until someone figures out the function assignments and effect values and makes a JMRI decode definition for it, you're out of luck. Best thing to do would be to reset it to factory default and then just set the address without JMRI and let it be.
