I created a jig for mine. I cut a hole the size of the LED lead spacing for a T3 LED and then countersunk it to stick the hat in. (About 1/10th an inch...but I use 7/64" to give me some clearance) You could also solder one leg to the hat and use the hat as a conductor and only feed on leg up the inside hat hole (insulated) I had less success that way
