Digitrax DT402 Throttle not working properly
Posted by Billm10454 on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 12:14 PM

When I try to use the throttle on the right side of the DT402 it does not advance properly. It will go up then down when I twist the knob to the right. The left kmob does not do this. An example would be starting at 00 then twisting to the right it will go to 12 then 40 then back to 25. It is different each time I use it. The left knob will advance as it should. Is there a fix for this or is it broken? My command station is the DCS100. Thanks

First reset the DCS100 using the OpSw 39 rest procedure in the manual. If the throttle still acts up, then it may be something in the throttle. It could be just the encoder is dirty, or it's worn out.

I'm a little out of my league here, in my overall knowledge of everything Digitrax, I use the Super Empire Builder, with the DB150, and DT400 throttle, but I have had problems with the stuck button thing that MFM37 talks about.

Here is what the Digitrax website has to say about a complete reset of the DCS100/200.

Not sure if this is in the manual.

I tried everything that was suggested, but it did nothing. When I reset the command station according to the instructions by taking it apart and changing the battery I get seven beeps when I start the system which means the battery is either no good or improperly installed but I tried 3 batteries and still the same result.

At this point, I would contact Digitrax.  I have had great results in the past.  I do it through their website.

I did contact Digitrax and they said it was probably the encoder. I will be sending it back for repairs. Thanks for the replies

Pulling the battery is one way to reset it all, but OpSw39 is more reliable because it actually resets everything and doesn't depend on the memory coming back blank like removing the battery. It's in the manual. Remember after resetting or removing the battery EVERYTHING is reset so it's set for 22 slots and not 120, for example. Default values for all OpSw settings is in the manual, some of them you may have to adjust back to where you want if the default isn't it. Does it give the 7 beeps every time you power it on?

It has stopped giving 7 beeps. I will be sending it in for repairs.
