Bachmann HO PCC Streetcar - no traction motor sound
Posted by RR Baron on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 3:01 PM

Bachmann Trains (Bachmann Industries, Inc.) revealed 9/28/2017, in their ASK THE BACH MAN Forum the Bachmann HO scale PCC Streetcar with Sparking Trolley Pole DCC Sound Value equipped does not include traction motor sound as advertised.

Traction motor as an included 16-bit polyphonic sound has now been removed from Bachmann Trains online WEB STORE product information.

Kind of lame.

I lived about a mile away from PCC tracks.  The steel wheels made a lot of noise and were easily heard.  Up close they were so much quieter than a bus, that my  memory was one of quiet except the door opening (which doesn't sound like Bachmann's sound) and the spark from the pole, which is accurate if you believe my memory.

Up close they were so much quieter than a bus,

...and I remember the soothing sound the air compressor made. It's rithym could put me to sleep... and did, sometimes!

Thanks, Ed

Well, this is confusing.  Eric White did a product review of this item in the August 2017 issue and said that function 5 starts the motor-generator sounds.  So are we talking about two different sounds, was the sound removed on later production items, or something different?
