Hello...my dcc controller stopped working(ez command)...have opened it up and see r20(resistor20) is burn`t...can`t read the value the numbers burned off, can anyone look inside theirs and read the numbers?(resistor value) I can replace it and repair the traces if i knew the value(i`m electronic tech)...Big question is why did it burn? schematic might help here...can`t see anything else visibly burnt...worth a try i guess...

No, have not tried that yet. Looked at the forums overthere, not a lot of activity. I`ll prob try tech support, but expect all i`ll hear is to return it. Last nite was first time using it, and it worked fine...it was brand new, unopened box. I acquired it a few years ago from someone who had it for a few years...so, it is a older unit...while reading the online manual for the device it spoke of it resetting itself after a few minutes, but i don`t see anything resettable, other than the microcontroller, which is ancient-pic16f870, also they show an on/off sw on the back of the unit, no sw on mine...
BIG IF, something else might have taken out the resistor.
Might be cheaper and easier to buy a new one off of ebay.

I have yet to hear of this happening to the EZ Command.
Maybe a clear photo of the area might help someone to guesstimate a resistor value.

I use to belong to the forums for a few years.
Not too active because the Bachmann forums are pretty much about Bachmann products. Some general discussions about track, wiring parts are ok without getting into discussions about other brands of products.
There are users of the EZ Command there.
Just join and ask. Many watch but generally don't say to much. They are not much for blah, blah, blah like here.
Also, a picture is worth a thousand words but you need a photo hosting site like these forums do.
Bachmann has had E-Z Command Control Center returned damaged by those not following instruction at bottom of first page of the E-Z Command Setup and Programming Instructions, which is
NOTE: DO NOT CONNECT THE E-Z COMMAND CONTROL CENTER TO THE WALL PACK POWER SUPPLY UNTIL YOU HAVE MADE THE CONNECTIONS FROM THE CONTROL CENTER TO YOUR TRACK.

Probably because people short the outputs while connecting the wires. There may be a shutdown in case of overload, but a dead short may very well just fry the thing.

I`m guessing that quarter trick i`ve read about is probably not a good idea on these controllers...
I am wondering if the OP had a power pack connected to the EZ Command to run a DC only loco?
Also, what was the OP running on his layout when the EZ Command failed? That could be important. Was there a short, loco derail at a turnout?
