Posted by mudcreek183 on Monday, April 24, 2017 3:53 PM

Found a old revell locomotive that was my dad's.Cleaned and lubed it and found out all the wires on the armature are broke off the commutator. Is there a pattern in which the go on to the commutator I beleive I can solder them back on.Or what other motor will fit it?

Having attempted that many years ago I would suggest using a new motor.  The chances of soldering the wires back correctly while maintaining rotor balance is slim to none.

Try posting a picture so a forum member can suggest a proper replacement motor.

I've got an old Revell diesel switcher around here.  Buried.  My recollection is that the drive (for THAT one) is a clone of a Varney drive.  A pretty bad one, actually.

And I further recall that the motor was analagous to a Pittman DC-60.  Which surely doesn't help much, 'cause finding one of those.....

It might work to simply buy another Revell loco, and use the motor out of there.  A problem might be if there were several different drive versions.

Some info might be turned up at Hoseeker.
