Prodigy Question
Posted by hwolf on Thursday, January 12, 2017 5:44 PM

I have a Prodigy Advance ( Not Advance Sq ) One of my handheld is not working.

Can you use a Prodigy Sq handheld with the regular advance base?

The MRC tethered cable doesn’t have very good strain reliefs on the connectors, try a new cable.  A standard computer cable will work.  I’m not sure if a Squared controller will work on a non squared controller.

The cable connector is the only problem I’ve had with my Prodigy in ten years.  I bought several spare computer cables of different lengths for my controllers.

I thought that's how you upgraded, just buy a higher level cab? Maybe that only works to go from Express to Advanced though.

By "not working" do you mean it is completely dead?  Or just erratic in control?

Cleaning the spped control as described in the MRC Yahoo group post may help if it is the latter:

You can add a squared handhed to a system that did not come with it ..

I have an older prodigy express system, and added a newer squared handheld..

the display is nicer, and I can now read back CV values where the old system could not

That's how I thought it worked. Now the big question - can you still use the old Express throttle as a second throttle while the Advanced Squared handset is plugged in?
