"ANTHONER WIRING QUESTION
Posted by TrainsRMe1 on Friday, December 2, 2016 1:45 PM

HI All,

I have a question for you, a part of my layout is two levels, the top is Eugene Yard, with a return loop, while the second level is Klamath Falls Yard which is hidden staging and a reversal loop, now my question is this, would it be best to branch off the main power bus for K. Falls, (but) REVERSE the feeders for the loop?? I know I have to either gap the track at the start of the loop or use insulated rail joiners, also I have used from my prevoius layout a DIGITRAX AR1 reversal unit, I might have answered my own question LOL, but any suggestions will be appreciated.   Have a safe and Blessed Holiday Season

                                    thanks Guy n Gals

Mane Line of LION is 9 scale miles, the far end is a loop. The South Ferry Loop as is prototypical for my railroad. So it look like a two track (or a four track-Express tracks) line but LION grounds the LEFT rail to a HARD ground, and puts +Vdc on the right rail. Trains move forward.

The terminal at the other end, 242nd Street gets its power from the main line according to the alignment of the switches (and signals), otherwise they are dead (compliments of a rectifier across the stop-gap, so that only a southbound alignment will allow the train to leave the station.

It is real easy... If you are a LION!

You need to gap the reverse loop so as to completely isolate it from the rest of the layout. The input side of the AR1 can be powered off the main bus, and the feeders to the reverse loop connect to the output side of the AR1. It doesn't matter which way the feeders are wired to the reverse loop just as long as they are all wired the same way since the AR1 will correct any mismatched polarity.

LION applies power to the loop. The rest of the track gets its power from the loop. A north bound train enters the loop, the switch is thrown and now the loop, still provinding power to the out bound track is Southbound power.

Your problem will occur elsewhere but that is not my problem.
