The ESU website says the decoder/file is available but I haven't read about it much so I have to wonder.
Has anybody installed one and how does it work?

I just looked and it's still under the coming soon section. But Matt and the US team have been going crazy with getting new recordings so maybe they did grab a Genset. I wouldn't expect it to be released until they had the spool up of the multiple engines working properly.
Which kind of reminds me, I should subscribe to Model Railroad News again, it's the only place you'd likely catch a review of something like this. The mainstream magazines like MR and MRH and RMC can only review so many items per issue, the rest is just announcements, but MRN is pretty much JUST news and reviews.

Thanks Randy. I must have misread the website. I'm sure that it will be the best representation of the Genset on the market when the file arrives.
I'm hoping any review includes tips and tricks for installing into the Genset.
Matt has had the Genset recorded for a couple years now. The biggest stumbling block was getting the multiple engines to start and stop properly. Last I spoke with Matt about the Genset, he said the new Full Throttle feature was going to make programming the multiple engines much easier to do. This will get the sound file back on the to-do list much sooner than originally anticipated. Matt won't release a file until it is right, and having not been able to get it to function 100% correct, it kept getting put off. Having discovered how to use sound slots as logical functions instead of just sounds, has opened an entire new way of doing things that previously were impossible.
