The headlight is out on my light mountain and I would like to replace it however I am not sure how to remove the engine shell. It appears just to be a friction fit and if so does it come off leveraging from the cab or from the smokebox?
I tried carefully from the cab end but gave up as it seemed very tight.
Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming a Spectrum 4-8-2, Light Mountain, here is what I see. A LED headlight. Got this from the Bachmann website.

Resistor should be on the PC board in the tender. The steamers have the resistor in the tender as far as I know. Some Bachmann steamers have a rather high resistance. About 2.5 k. Happend to me. One k is about normal.
Maybe older models have a light bulb but that is a guess.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Ja Bear, thanks for the info. Turns out it was the screw you identified plus the one holding the drawbar.
I tested the bulb and it is working so the problem lies elsewhere and I suspect it could be the decoder or a tender connection. I will have to examine it and get it ready to install the Econami decoder when I recieve it. In the meantime I will put a motor only decoder in it to test the connections.
Again, thanks for the info.
All my Bachmann steamers have the PC board marked for the connections. The four pin connector has two wires for the light and two for the motor.
Check for continuity between the eight pin socket for the headlight.
I had one tender for a light bulb loco and no resistor on the PC board.
Look carefully at the PC board. The components and connections are marked on all the Bachmann steamers I have. Get your meter out and do some continuity and voltage checks.
