NCE DCC Questions
Posted by Rookie Railroader on Saturday, May 21, 2016 8:19 AM

Hi this is Rookie Railroader. I was planning on buying a NCE Power Cab Starter Set with 110/240V US Power Supply and a Cab06 Engineer Cab with LED Display. Is there anything else I need to start running trains with DCC? Do I need to get some extra equipment for the Engineer Cab? Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

A Power Cab is a complete system.  You won't need the Cab06 unless a 2nd person will operate a 2nd locomotive.   The Power Cab can also swap between 2 locomotives, allowing you to operate 2 locomotives at the same time.

Depending upon the size of your railroad you may wish to purchase an additional UTP panel so that your 06 cab can be located at a location remote from where your PowerCab plugs in so that the additional operator isn't standing on the first operator's toes.

You will need decoders for your engines.

I was in the same position as you about 4 years ago and purchased a pewercab from NCE. That decision worked out great ,everything I needed to run was in the box, other than a dcc equipped engine. The choice was never regreted and the support from NCE is is as good or better than I have received from any mfg. You also can add other options (upgrade) as you feel the need. Wishing you a great experience with the product and the hobby.
