Anyone had any luck installing an Soundtraxx Econami 882004 ECO-PN in a Life-Like Proto 2000 SD7/9? And if so, what size speakers did you use?I'd prefer to install a LokSound decoder but I don't think it'd fit. Thanks!

Why are you using the Eco 200 series decoder?
I think that the Eco 100 series would work has it is a 1 amp decoder.
Speakers- you going to use two?= Why? Use the largest speaker that will fit into the locomotive.
Although I haven't installed sound in a P2K SD—yet—I have done a pair of BLI SD-9s. I used a Loksound Micro Select

There's plenty of room in an SD-9 for one of these. You are talking HO? Yes?
The speaker housings were already in place over the drive shaft and I believe I used a 28mm round speaker.
There should be plenty of room for a micro and if you don't want to lose too much weight you can look at some of the sugar cube speakers which some folks seem to like as much as the larger hi-bass ones.

I have used of the ported speakers from Railworks in some of my hood unit type diesel installs.

Good Luck, Ed
I converted a P2K SD7 with a Loksound Select 6Aux, hard wired. Added led lighting. For speakers I installed quad 13x19mm sugarcubes (Knowles Grand) in a 0.040" styrene enclosure. I probably milled the frame to increase height available for the enclosure. Not home so not sure I can add a link for the January thread where a Youtube videp compares to a BLI.
