How close to speaker magnets should a decoder be? Any Problems?
Posted by Gerome on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 4:46 PM

In my latest install it would be convenient to place the decoder quite near large bass type speakers with rather large magnets and a stronger field than I have seen before.  Does it make a difference or potential for problem if the decoder is set quite near the back surface of the speaker magnet or on top of it?

Thanks.

There's nothing on a decoder that would be affected by a magnetic field.

Except for some QSI decoders with the magnetic wand reset.

I have attached a SoundTraxx DSD 090 to the back of a speaker in a tender and eventually replaced it with a Micro Tsunami. No issues.
