DCX Decoder Question
Posted by bavrail on Monday, January 25, 2016 8:46 AM

Does anybody have any experience with cTelektronik decoders from Austria ?

Especially interested in DCX76 and DCX77 decoders (very small).

Can they be programmed using an NCE PowerCab ?

I found this page about the DCX76:

It seems like it supports standard NMRA DCC protocols, so you should be able to program it.

It's probably the size that causes this limitation, but the decoder is limited to 0.8 amps.  It's also wire-in only, no plugs.

These are relatively expensive for motor-only decoders, and I also note that they are out of stock at this vendor, so I'd worry about availability.

Are you specifically looking for Z-scale decoders?  That seems to be their target market.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I'm in the process of converting some old German n-scale. They all have to be hard-wired. I'm looking for small THIN decoders.
