Forgot DCC Address given to locomotive
Posted by Grump on Friday, December 25, 2015 8:43 PM

ok, I'm feeble.  I assigned an address to an older Athern F7 using a 126 Digitax Module. Worked great, then I forgot the address I assigned. I know, I should have written it down. I'm usinging a Digitax S Chief xtra. How can I read the address or rest it back to the default 03?

CV8=8 is the reset to factory settings, for 03 running. Then use the engine number for the address when resetting it.

All of this is in the manuals that come with the Super Chief, at least it is all in mine. Now if you don't have them you really need to get them.

With a Super Chief, just put the loco on the program track, press the Program button until you see Pg, or Pd. Turn the left knob until the display says AD2=. Click the right knob to change the display to AD4=. Press the CV RD button and it will read the address.

Or just put it on the program track and program whatever address you want. On the program track, anything you do will overwrite whatever is already there. If you happen to set the same one it already had - no big deal.
