TT troubles
Posted by skagitrailbird on Saturday, December 12, 2015 12:24 PM

I have a Walther's DCC 90' HO scale turntable. After a few weeks being idle I re-calibrated it and it operated normally, moving to various tracks as directed through the control panel. (I do not operate it via decoders.)

Just before my open house last night, it refused to operate. When the read out says "tr 1" I press go set once then either the up or down buttons but nothing happens. The track number does not change and the bridge doesn't move.

I have two more open house sessions today and tomorrow. I sure would like to have the TT operational. Any ideas?

Most likely power to the motor is interupted. lift up the bridge an re-seat it, sometimes the copper power feeds don't contact properly, might have to recalabrate one (maybe someone here has a diagram of which goes to what on the bridge). That is if you are sure it is not the decoder.

I removed the bridge, put it back in and calibrated. It calibrated just as it should. But I still can'take get it to move from track 1. Sad

Are you sure that all the wipers are in contact?

I was hoping to avoid reprogramming but it did the trick. Thanks.

With all teh troubles I've seen reported here and in other Model RR groups, I think the LAST TT I will buy would eb the Walthers one. We have one on the club layout and it has never worked the entire time I've been a member, although some of the other guys say it did work when first installed. Granted we are a modular group and the layout is constantly torn down and rebuilt, but the bridge has a specially made padded carrying case made for it. In the meantime, we have a second TT on the layout, this one with a cobbled together drive that looks fresh out of the 70's, but it works all the time, every time. Just a motor on a spring rubbing a wheel under the table, with an old handheld DC controller driving it. I plan at least one TT on my layout, and it will be near the aisle side, so a nice manually operated one without any complex indexing will be perfect.
