I need some advice. I just purchased a new MTH SD70ACe in HO scale (UP Katy Heritage unit... can't believe I found it on the shelf!). The problem is, I am brand new to DCC, I have a Digitrax Zepher system on my layout and I'm still learning the ropes on it. The hobby shop I bought it from had programmed it so they could demonstrate a couple test runs, so it's not on the default 03 address. I live in Texas and I had it on layway at a shop in Oklahoma, so when my wife picked it up for me, I forgot to have her get the decoder address. I called the hobby shop and they gave me a couple of numbers to try, but to no avail. How do I get this thing to start or reset it so I can start from the beginning? I've heard MTH's DCC/DCS decoders are a little different from most, and should be programmed on the main track. Tried some steps from the Digitrax manual but it didn't work.
I'll add that my two other DCC equipped locomotives respond just fine, so it's not the system or the wiring. Any help would be much appreciated!
I have read here a few times about MTH locos run by a DCC controller.
As you know, DCS and DCC are different and not completely compatible. DCS is not made according to NMRA standards.
Below is a link from a search. Some links will be opinions, some facts.

I am sure a MTH user will jump in and comment. Until then, do some reading in the links. Good luck.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Someone asked a silmilar question here:

The answer included a link to the following NCE instruction. I would think if you are using Digitraxx the procedure would be similar: http://extranet.mth-railking.com/pdfapp/pdfs/instruction/NCE%20Programming.pd
If the address is not 3, it's most likely the cab number. The 'simple' setting for MTH locos on DCC is to switch from using the default 3 to using the road number of the loco.

If you don't know the address, you can send a value of 55 to CV55 on address 55. This will do a factory reset on any MTH loco on the track. At that point you'll be back to a short address of 3.
