Received the new RS12 switcher this week. Revs up and runs full speed out of control when placed on the tracks. Does not respond to the controller. Running Prodigy Elite and all other locos running fine. The retailer sent me a new loco and the exact same thing happened. Tried on program track and same thing.
It moves on your programming track?!?
Is there a DCC decoder installed? And, your programming track is entirely isolated from the powered layout tracks, right?
If it's got a decoder installed, and your programming track is isolated completely, and you are in programming mode, something is totally wrong somewhere here! DCC locomotives should NEVER move, never ever, on a programming track... DC however.....

Finally figured it out. Had to plug in the factory address 0003 while its running full speed and increase the throttle. Out of the blue the loco slowed down and started responding. All ok now.
Yes the loco did have a decoder and was doing the same full speed ahead trick on the programing track before the fix.
This has great sound and responds very nicely. An overall good loco. Wish the mfg would have given a heads up. The retailer had no idea.
One is MAYBE a bad decoder. Two, it's your system. If it takes off immediately when placed on the track, you had address 3 cranked up to full throttle. Even a DC loco won't take off on the program track, there's not even any power unless you are activley reading or writing a decoder. I don't think MRC can run an non-decoder loco, so one without a decoder should just sit there and buzz.

First, before I go further, I need to say .
Now, as rrinker (Randy) brought out, nothing should move on your programming track, as unless you are actively programming, it should have no power. How is it hooked up, and where is it in relation to the rest of the layout tracks? The fact that anything is moving on your programming track is really concerning to me, and tells me you have more issues than just this locomotive "running away" on you. Programming tracks should not have enough power to run period, and nowhere near enough power to run anything at "full throttle" as you stated.... And should not have a throttle signal packet being sent there, only programming signals. This loco should never have been moving on your programming track.
