Valid values for CV116 are between zero and 255. The lower the value, the sooner the loco will auto mute. I like to use 255. That lets a loco idle a bit, but shuts it off before it becomes too annoying.
Also note that the sound will only mute if all the functions are turned off. So, for example, if you pull the loco into the engine shop and do not turn off the headlight, it will not mute.
You really appreciate the auto mute function when you have a dozen or so sound locos sitting at an engine facility.

Quiet Mode Timeout Period...CV 113
CV113=0...diesel sounds "on" upon track power and stays "on" unless muted (F8).
CV113=value X 0.25 equals number of seconds to automatic shut down.
ex:CV113=120...30 seconds to shut down after throttle backed to 0 and all other functions (other sounds and lights,etc) are turned "off".
CV116...Engine Exhaust Control
CV116=0...manual notching
CV116=1-15 (default 7)...automatic notching.
